Why is My Volunteer Resume Important?

    Volunteer service helps students gain new skills and experiences that are beneficial in their future academic and professional careers. Below is a list of professional benefits.

    • Volunteering is associated with a 27% increase in employment probability.
    • Employers are 82% more likely to choose a candidate with volunteering experience.
    • Employers are 85% more likely to overlook resume flaws when volunteer experience is included on a candidate's resume.

How to Download Volunteer Resume

    Open "My Profile" on iServe

  • Sign in! Make sure to use your WVU email address.
  • Select the dropdown by initials in the top right corner​of the iServe screen, then View Profile from the dropdown.

    Select "Volunteer Resume" Button

  • Go to "My Profile"
  • Locate the volunteer information section on the left-hand side of the "My Profile" page.
  • Click on the "Volunteer Resume" icon.

    Edit Volunteer Resume

  • Enter the "Start" and "End" dates for the data included in your Volunteer Resume.
    • Note: This feature allows users to choose a specific semester or timeline to highlight in their resume.
  • Click "GO" to receive a downloadable PDF of your volunteer resume.

Each volunteer opportunity and hours served are included with short descriptions.

This document can be attached to employment opportunities, graduate applications, scholarships, and academic grants.
