Elyzabeth "Lisa" Maxey

Elyzabeth "Lisa" Maxey is an Accounting Assistant II at WVU, Extension, Energy Express, where she handles the AmeriCorps grant finances of Energy Express. Reading is very important to Lisa, as it opens up the world to everyone. She is motivated by a desire to help children with their reading skills, giving them the tools to travel the world in their imagination.
Lisa graduated from WVU with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and went on to acquire an associate degree as a Paralegal. Of the positions Lisa held, the work-study position for the Monongalia Family Resource Network began her love of nonprofits, working as the Emergency Financial Assistant at Christian Help, and culminated in working for the Monongalia and Preston Counties United Way as the Family Resource Network Coordinator. Lisa worked at helping nursing home clients become eligible while working with an Elder Attorney. She was also the Executive Director of a transportation nonprofit taking seniors to medical appointments. During these times, she developed strong finance skills and achieved her dream of helping others, especially children and seniors. Her background in nonprofits makes her especially adept at wearing many hats as needed.
Lisa enjoys nature, gardening, and bird-watching. In the future, Lisa is looking forward to working with her team and continue making Energy Express even better!
