“I have always had a passion for volunteering in the community and within my home state of West Virginia.”

Briar Williams has always had a passion for volunteering in her community and within her home state of West Virginia. In addition to her AmeriCorps Service, Briar has been a part of the community theatre where she is from and has acted as a secretary for the board (Landmark Studios for the Arts, Sutton, WV) for many years. Although Briar holds an associate degree in Medical Assisting, her passion lies within non-profits and community building.

In 2021, Briar started her service with AmeriCorps and since then, has focused on community revitalization, historic preservation, and community engagement. Most recently, she acted as a volunteer recruitment specialist with the American Red Cross. Brair is looking forward to what this service year will bring as she learns new skills and settles into her new position as the AmeriCorps VISTA leader at the Center for Community Engagement. During this time, she hopes to share her knowledge and passion for AmeriCorps with current and future VISTAS, while building capacity within the programs. In her free time, Briar enjoys spending time with her family, performing on stage, and cheering her two daughters on at the pageant performances.
