Monday Night Lights

Orientation, Celebrations, and... Service!

On August 15th, 2022, we participated for the first time in the annual Monday Night Lights! With the partnership of United Ways across the state, we packed 1,150 backpacks to be distributed to children K-12. Students packed a variety of school supplies in an assembly-line-like fashion, and got to experience an important part of what our University does.

Below are pictures of what this experience looked like:

An above-eye-level view of volunteers preparing for Monday Night Lights. There are people talking, moving carts, packing boxes, and one woman giving a peace sign to the camera.
A photo of students going through the line packing backpacks. Students are off to the left talking, and on the right is a long table with supplies on it and students walking by grabbing them. Volunteers are standing behind the tables.
A picture of students in line to pack backpacks. Some students are playing with inflatable balls on the right of the screen, while the line is on the left side. It goes all the way back out of frame.
A photo of a staff member talking with students waiting in line. A student is holding a blue inflatable ball, and the staff member's shirt reads "Do Good. Be Better. Go First."

Of course we couldn't have done any of this without the donation from First United Bank and help from volunteers from United Way:
